Building healthy and effective teams in churches is both a privilege and a challenge. Most church teams are made up of volunteers who give their time, energy, gifts, and passion alongside their personal, family, and professional lives. This journey is designed to help senior church leaders build, motivate, equip, and lead teams in a way that is both spiritually grounded and practically sustainable.

Session 1 – Introduction and Vision

Jenni Sandford-Nedoszytko

June 9th 20:00 CET

Most church teams are made up of volunteers, so how do we empower church members to give their time and energy in areas they love, enjoy, and are skilled in?

This session will focus on the importance of vision and purpose in building strong church teams. We will explore how to set a clear vision, identify which teams are needed and why, connect volunteers to the bigger picture, and help people feel valued and part of something meaningful.

The session will also cover how to recognise passion, gifts, and skill sets, while setting clear expectations around what serving in a team involves.

Session 2 – Motivating Your Team

Jenni Sandford-Nedoszytko

June 30th  20:00 CET

People serve well when they love what they are doing, feel called to serve in that area, feel valued, and know that their contribution matters. Motivation grows when people are invested in the vision, when they are being invested in themselves, and when they feel they are building together.

Using principles from Nehemiah, this session will explore how to keep volunteers motivated, committed, and connected to the mission. We will also look at how to identify people who are hungry and motivated, how to respond to those who are less engaged, and how to show appreciation in ways that are meaningful to different people.

Session 3 – Knowing Yourself and Your Team

Jenni Sandford-Nedoszytko

August 25th  20:00 CET

Self-awareness is essential for healthy leadership. How well do you know yourself as a leader? What are your strengths and weaknesses, and who around you can help you see yourself clearly?

This session will focus on understanding yourself first in order to lead others well. We will also explore how to better understand team members, their needs, communication styles, preferences, gifts, and callings.

The goal is to help pastors equip people according to who they are, what they carry, and where they are called to serve.

Session 4 – Why Good Leaders Keep Burning Out

Benjamin Jackson

September 8th  20:00 CET

Most burnout in ministry is not only caused by too much work. It is often caused by doing the right things for the wrong reasons: saying yes when you mean no, carrying responsibility that is not yours, and quietly running on empty while still looking fine on a church service.

This session will address why so many gifted leaders end up exhausted or resentful, especially in small church contexts. We will look at how Jesus understood His purpose so clearly that He could walk away from genuine need without guilt, and what it costs us when we are unable to do the same.

Session 5 – How to Lead Without Losing Yourself

Benjamin Jackson

September 29th  20:00 CET

Every time you say yes to something you should not, you are saying no to something you should be doing. In a small volunteer church, this has real consequences for you, your family, your team, and the wider church.

This session will provide practical tools for leading with clarity without becoming cold. We will explore how to stop carrying what belongs to someone else, how to communicate limits in a way people can receive, and how to recognise when the desire to be helpful is actually making you less effective as a leader.

Session 6 – The Conversation You’ve Been Avoiding

Benjamin Jackson

October 20th  20:00 CET

There is often someone in a team or congregation that a pastor knows they need to speak to. Most leaders know it, but many delay the conversation, waiting for a better moment that never comes.

This session will explore why difficult conversations are often avoided, what it costs when they are delayed, and how to approach them in a way that strengthens rather than damages relationships.

You will leave with a clear and practical framework for handling confrontation and conflict well.

Session 7 – Growing in the Apostolic

Paul Manwaring

December 9th  20:00 CET

This final session will focus on growing in apostolic thinking and leadership. You will explore what it means to build beyond the immediate need, to think generationally, and to strengthen the Church with vision, courage, and long-term perspective.

The session will help leaders understand how apostolic leadership equips, empowers, and releases people, while building structures and cultures that carry kingdom purpose beyond one person or one moment.`

Session Format and Logistics

Each session will include 45 minutes of teaching followed by 45 minutes of discussion and Q&A.

The format will be interactive, with opportunities for participants to engage & ask questions during the presentation where relevant, and join breakout rooms depending on the size of the group.

You will be asked to come prepared with their church vision written out, as well as some context about their church size, team size, and current leadership challenges.

For the best experience, you are encouraged to join from a laptop rather than a phone, especially to allow better interaction.

Sessions will be recorded and posted in the WhatsApp Group.
